The IBM servers x86 and x64, based on Intel and AMD processors, are market references into server field. Both in the tower or rack format, the IBM System x servers offer to the company a growth path. From the single processor server to the system based on the X4 technology, IBM introduces in the x86 world a highly scalable architecture, inheriting experience and research from the IBM System p and I platforms.

Today, with the new IBM Power 6 processors and the IBM i for Business operating systems it renews itself and is even more flexible.
The new models with Power 6 processor offer very high processing capabilities and the possibility to put side by side to the i5/OS also Linux on Power and AIX partitions.
Furthermore the new IBM for business 6.1 system introduces very important performance enhancements for Java/J2EE applications, always more integrated with the RPG world and native management software.
Finally the big news: the new JS12 and JS22 blades that bring also to the IBM blade system all the power and flexibility of the IBM i for Business philosophy.
Starting from today also the smallest companies may enter the IBM i for Business world with IBM blades S and the new JS12 and JS22 blades (2 or 4 core Power 6).
The function of Power VM for virtualisation and micro-partitioning are available on all systems.
Inside the System I or Power systems with IBM i for Business is also possible to integrate the x86 and Intel world via iSCSI simplifying the management and backup of the x86 servers.
The advantage of IBM i for Business stays in its architecture able to integrate in a single system all the application functions needed by the company. From the high performance database (DB2 integrated in the operating system) to the application servers (the one integrated, recently announced, or WebSphere Application Server).
No other platform offers a protection warranty of the investment equal to the Power system with IBM i for Business.

The Unix system par excellence, based since decades on the Power architecture, IBM System p, is able to give to the company matchless reliability, flexibility and power in the Unix and Linux processing environments.
AIX is the UNIX operating system of IBM. All along optimised for the Power architecture, it is able to use it at its best. System p, moreover, includes and uses all the technologies of virtualisation typical of Power architecture, from the micro-partitioning to the new Live Partition Mobility that allows to the AIX partitions on Power 6 to be transferred under different nodes to permit the optimisation of work loads inside the company data centre. IBM System p goes from one CPU (on the JS32 blade) to 32 (into the systems p 595) and in very case enables the best way to exploit the available power.
With AIX 6.1 moreover the new feature called WLPAR (Workload Logical Partition) enables, with just the installation of AIX, to control more isolated execution field, with defined characteristics in terms of performance and quality of service. AIX 6.1 is meant to manage and optimise the system to maintain and respect the service levels required.
Along with AIX on IBM System p is also available the operating system Linux On Power that Avnet distributes as SuSe Linux On Power and that gives the possibility to use also in the System p world the large available offer of Linux and Open Source software.

IBM System Blade is the IBM platform for optimisation and consolidation.
Thought with clear aims, it is the reliable architecture to consolidate server and storage area network, with technologies of consumption control and best investment protection of the different IBM platforms.
BladeCenter E - the first born, 14 blades, 4 slots for Ethernet and/or fibre switch, management redundant module and for redundant power suppliers. The first blade system appeared on the market, is compatible with all the old and new Blade servers. The best way to preserve the investment.
BladeCenter H - BladeCenter H adds a greater expandability and the support for a greater number of ports for every Blade server and the support for the infiniband switchs in one space, just a 2 rack unit, superior to the one of the BladeCenter E.
BladeCenter S - the new born of the Blade's family. Projected for the small and medium company and for all the companies who take particular care to the management costs, to the consumptions and the space. One BladeCenter is able to host 6 blade servers (old as well as new, included the new JS12 and JS22 servers) in addition to 12 integrated SAS disks. Practically it represents the "server farm in a box" including internet, storage and server in a single system. Ideal for small CED, offices or branch offices.

IBM Balde Modular System - they are servers x86 mono, dual or quad processor (Intel or AMD). They can be used in all the BladeCenter systems and they are available in different configurations for CPU, memory and number of communication peripheral devices (ethernet and fibre).
IBM Blade JS12 e JS22 - based on Power 6 processors, they are blade compatible and certified with IBM BladeCenter H and S able to host AIX 6.1/IBM for Business 6.1/Linux On Power environments. The availability of models with 2 or 4 cores permits to have a very low entry cost, but to exploit immediately all the processor power 6 capacities, from the Advance Power virtualisation to the Live Partition Mobility, that optimises the development and the trustworthiness for the company applications.
IBM Blade QS21 - the server based on IBM Cell processors, optimal for mathematical calculation of high performances, confirms the versatility of the Bladecenter platform also when the work loads are not the "typical" used in an IT environment. Optimised thanks to the possibility to use the infiniband BladeCenter switches , the server QS21 is the ideal component for the construction of a scalable and economical calculation environment.
IBM Blade HC10 - it is a high performance workstation that, built following the Blade philosophy, take place in a BladeCenter and consolidates again the IT infrastructure. Thanks to its integrated architecture the blade HC10 leaves the calculation power in the server room and brings to the user's desktop just a small terminal to be connected to the screen, keyboard, mouse and local peripheral devices without accepting any performance compromises.
