It is the reference product when you talk about messaging (e-mail) and it is an absolute winner when cooperation goes beyond e-mail. Documental workflow support, integrated security in every point of the system, optimised managing of not - structured information, make it unparalleled and indispensable.
>>Lotus Sametime
This is the product that has won several times prizes in instant messaging and real-time cooperation area. It offers awareness services (online availability) from PC to web, from mobile devices to instant messaging and web conferencing services. Its most recent version includes cooperation and social networking instruments (ask community, look for the expert.) and telephony integration to offer you the possibility to communicate at 360° inside and outside your company.
Sametime offer consists of four levels:
- Entry: this starting point offers instant messaging and awareness and it is included in every Lotus Notes & Domino for collaboration licence;
- Standard: it offers also the client Connect, based on Lotus Expeditor, for access from PC and mobile devices, the Meeting centre service and the conference room. Sametime Standard also includes "Sametime gateway", an additional service to connect the IM company network to the one of other partners or to public networks like Google and Yahoo;
- Advanced: it adds to Entry and Standard features new instruments for cooperation, from persistent chat rooms (that is thematic work areas with discussions history) to broadcast instruments for community, suited to send instant requests to specific group of interest in your company. In Sametime Advanced the new service scalability is assured thanks to the use of WebSphere and MQ Series components that integrate and extend Sametime server.
- Unified telephony: this offer adds to Sametime the integration with telephony and mobile systems. Thanks to agreements with bigger vendors IBM offers connector able to bring telephony into connect client. Sametime users can "telephone" from their clients giving to Sametime server the charge to interface with switchboard or to dial the right number.
Moreover IBM recently made available Sametime Unyte, a new offer under the banner_eng of software as a service (SaaS) that put at customers' disposal the whole meeting server service without having to install anything on your company infrastructure.
>>Lotus Connections
It is the first enterprise social collaboration platform. It gives in the destructured and auto-ordered world of personal profiles, blogs, wikis, links and web resources sharing all the warranties needed to protect your company. It is a "safe place" where the company can produce its information without any risk of bad surprises. It also includes Activities: a tool to organize your own work that is oriented to the company sharing and cooperation. Lotus Connection connectors make the integration easier by bringing the new features into the applications used by users (Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office, Windows' desktop). Documents cataloguing, information sharing in blogs or associating an e-mail with an activity it is a problem no more, but a natural step in your ordinary workday. Every Lotus Connections module is structured in such a way that it can take part to mashup: information are not tied to Lotus Connections but you can easily use them again in other operative environments, both web and Client based. The use of opened technologies like http, JSON and AJAX put away access barriers that sometimes depend on APIs in a particular programming language.

This solution deals with supporting cooperative management of documents. This means sharing, but also working together on documents, to manage versions and to be sure to work on the most updated version in repository, instead of trusting in "the last e-mail with attachment". Lotus Quickr can also support approval workflows and can grow in agreement with the company thanks to the ability of personalization by all power users.
